Dear Colleagues:
Greetings of Peace!
It is a reality that our country has been hit by many critical and devastating circumstances. Filipino people have unexpectedly suffered from the consequences caused by climate change, political turmoil, economic crisis and other calamities. These times call psychologists, counselors, and other helping professionals, working in the industries, schools, clinics, government and other non-government organizations to unite and be equipped with professional competence to reach out to others.
As a response to this reality, the BC-SPC CREED (Brokenshire College-San Pedro College Collaboration in Research, Education, Extension and Development) will be holding a Mindanao-wide convention among psychologists and counselors, which aims to strengthen competence in doing psychological and counseling practice at the same time integrating research, with its theme: Psychologists and Counselors: Bridging Science and Practice. This convention will be on July 1-3, 2010, at 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Apo View Hotel, Davao City. There will be lectures and workshops in developing skills and appreciation for research and actual practice of psychology and counseling. Dr. Fredrick Boholst, an industrial/organizational and clinical psychologist in Cebu, and Dr. Imelda Villar, a counseling and clinical psychologist in Manila, shall be the resource speakers.
Counselors, psychometricians, psychologists, human resource personnel, social workers, nurses, academicians, nurses and other allied helping professionals working in the industries or companies, schools, clinics, hospitals, government and non-government organizations shall be the targeted participants. Undergraduate students in Psychology and counseling may also attend.
In view of this, we invite the helping professionals and students in your institution to participate in this convention. For details, please see the attached program and registration form for your guidance.
If you have queries, clarification or responses to this invitation, please contact Gecelle of Brokenshire College Counseling and Psychological Wellness Center (CPWC), at (082) 227-2105, loc 155; (082)-227-3538, loc 155, or Sita of San Pedro College Guidance Center, at (082)-221-0634, loc 39, (082)-221-0257, loc 39.
